Regular, 90-minute sessions, minimum fortnightly, time-limited.

Treatment Process

Enquiry & Initial Consultation

Contact us to discuss your needs and determine whether ISTDP is appropriate.

2.

Comprehensive Assessment (3 hours)

Ideally 3 hours in person, or 2 × 90-minute meetings

  • Clinical history and current difficulties
  • Understanding underlying patterns
  • Treatment recommendation and plan

3.

Fortnightly 90-Minute Sessions

Time-limited, focused therapy for rapid change

  • In-depth work on emotional and relational patterns
  • Active, real-time therapeutic engagement
  • Consistent frequency: minimum fortnightly

4.

Monitoring Progress

Regular assessment of outcomes

  • Evaluation of progress collaboratively with therapist session-to-session

Review & Next Steps

Collaborative decision-making on continuation or adaptation

  • If limited progress, treatment reviewed together
  • Plan refined for optimal effectiveness

Clinical Governance & Video Recording

The video recording of sessions, is a standard part of ISTDP. Recording is done solely with explicit, informed consent, witch will be discussed transparently before treatment begins.

ISTDP is an emotion focused therapy which supports patients to understand how emotional processes can affect physiological and bodily functions. The treatment aims to support patients improve their emotional regulation and become more attentive to their bodily and emotional processes.
